Hello BeGraphics,

first, Thx for the amasing app.

Ok, e need to create a mapa that resumes the rate os two sellers in each state of my contry.

Ex. My country = Brazil

in state of: Rio de Janeiro, the 1º company have 30% of the market and the 2º have 70%

I see in the first page of the Begraphic that you made a chart in Japan named "Maps | Conversion rate client / prospect"
Is the same chart i wanna make. In the yellow pizza chart is the 1º company and in the red pizza chart is the 2º company.

How can i do that and insert that pizza in the right spot?

First part of the answer: Theory

Geo-positionning would have been easy if maps were all built the same way.
But there are dozens of map types due to the "map projection" choice.

So we decided that BeGraphic wouldn't handle the geo-positionning algorithm.

In "map projection", you have to decide between
  • showing the right direction/shape of all countries (coast & border)... but then the north and south poles (small points) become as large as the equator line (the largest part of the earth) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equator
  • showing the right surface... but then the shape of all countries far from the equator line won't have meaningful shapes (not usable coast & border for sailors). By the way, the method to distord a map to get plausible surface is called Cartogram.
  • preserving distance our shortest way or...
  • a mix of previous choices (each country has its own balanced solution, mainly optimized for itself)

If you want more details, look for "Map projection" in wikipedia:

Second part of the answer: Business case

To build this "Map of sales in Japan", here is the solution:
  • download the map from our 18,000 maps library (all free) by using the WMF format
  • store the map file inside the right folder (usually: C:\Program Files\BeGraphic\BeGraphic\Content\Maps)
Note don't put it in nowhere else, because BeGraphic handles specific processing only in this folder
  • use "Google Maps" (http://maps.google.com/) to find the right location
  • put two half circles (insert/shapes/basic shapes/pie) on the location found by using Google Maps
  • to get a perfect half circle, move the "diamond point" (yellow dot)
  • the second half-circle can be done by copying the first one, then use the menu
"page layout /arrange/ rotate/ flip vertical"
  • with the right-click on the shape, use BeGraphic menu:
Scale / Dynamic mode / Unidirectional / anchorage point (fixed): Center
  • Don't forget to put the source value in percentage (format matters).
Then press "Update animation" button to get your perfect data visualization

Regards
