Post subject:  Map problem : Excel shifts countries away from each other
Sometimes, when you zoom in (maximum = 400%),
you can see on the map that some countries have been moved.

It is very annoying because some countries have been moved as if they were islands!

THIS IS DUE TO AN EXCEL BUG ! THE SPREADSHEET DOESN'T HANDLE WELL THE UNGROUP FUNCTION !

To solve this problem nicely (not just by putting a bigger border that hides the gap), you have to
  • download the map inside PowerPoint (by using the "" function)
  • select the complete map (by covering the map area with your mouse)

  • ungroup all shapes (several times... because groups can include sub-groups)
  • as Microsoft Office (both PowerPoint or Excel) often duplicates shape (ANOTHER MICROSOFT BUG),
    you have to kill all clones except one (e.g.: the Florida state map can be put 2 or 3 times, including with or without border)
  • regroup all last freeforms in one single shape
  • resize the shape (right-click the shape to access the "Size & Position" function)
  • export the map (copy and paste) to Excel
  • inside Excel, ungroup the map

By using this procedure, you avoid the buggy Excel ungrouping function (and use the PowerPoint's one that works fine).
