BeGraphic lite is free!!! But you have to have some imagination and time ;-)
Note: BeGraphic Pro will get ready-made templates.

To build such an Ishikawa diagram (also known as cause-effect diagram or fishbone diagram), you just have to be smart:

1) Within Excel's automatic shapes (Excel ribbon : Insert/Illustration/Shapes), select "lines" to design your own Ishikawa diagram.

2) Within BeGraphic lite, add size and/or color to the lines of your custom Ishikawa diagram.
(Note: BeGraphic can do that with any kind of shape, picture, photo).

3) Also with BeGraphic, add gauges that can be
  • circular or half-circular (inside BeGraphic ribbon, use the "gauge" button and tickmark "Enable advanced mode" to get more options)
  • flat gauges (also called "bullet graphs") that are in-cell sparklines (in BeGraphic this thermometer-like graph can be found in the "sparkline" menu)

4) If you want data-driven resizable gauges (e.g.: Bigger gauge meaning stronger alert), you have to push away the gauges or in-cell sparklines far from the Ishikawa diagram and use the "Sub-Dashboard" function included in BeGraphic. This feature:
  • makes a picture of a range of cells,
  • puts it on top of another shape (e.g.: add a small circle at the right place / on one of the Ishikawa diagram's lines)
  • it will resize it depending on the "scale" parameter (by using the third column of "sub-dash" parameters).

Note: if you use in-cell sparklines charts, it's easier to convert the sheet into a "graph paper".
To make cells becoming perfect squares:
  • use our dedicated menu inside "BeGraphic options" ;
  • if needed, merge several cells when you want a bigger sparkline
