Good afternoon,

I downloaded the Lite Version and was wondering how to make the gauge auto update when my min, max, & needle values change

To manually update the all worksheet (after any change), you have to push the button: "LAUNCH ANIMATION"... but this is a manual procedure!

BeGraphic also has an "AUTO UPDATE" option.

To get the "Auto update" option, follow these steps:
  • go to the BeGraphic ribbon
  • click on "Administration"
  • click on "General settings"
  • select "Automatic animation settings"
  • close Excel (because change will take effect on next Excel reboot)
  • Restart BeGraphic inside Excel (viewing the BeGraphic ribbon).
  • click on the "Automatic animation" button (see the picture B below) to make BeGraphic becoming full automated.

So why this option is not always activated?
  • Microsoft doesn't always give signals to launch an update (e.g.: when changing the cell color, Excel says nothing - unless you go to another cell)
  • Dangerous case: Users might think that they are looking at updated graphics (... it is not always the case! See above why)
  • This "auto update" option should be used only when presenting your dashboard (not when you design it)
  • It is even quite irritating to see BeGraphic jumping to update graphics whenever you change just one single value.

Thank you for the reply. I executed the steps as instructed and the auto update does not occur. Is there some setting I could be missing?

When I save the excel file to my thumb drive and then open it up on another computer that does not have BeGraphics it will no longer update. I suppose that the only way to work in your files is to always be on the computer that has BeGraphics loaded. Otherwise is just a display and rather useless if you're attempting to work on updated files offsite.
Thanks.

I followed steps outlined in an earlier post to "activate" the automatic animation. This option has apparently been removed by Begraphics team. I find this to be very frustrating. Is there any chance you plan to add this option back into the add-in?
Thanks

First of all the option to auto-update data-driven graphics is still working fine :
http://www.begraphic.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=70

If you can't use it or don't find it, send me a PM (Private Message)
by using the dedicated buttion at the end of this page.

Regarding the spread of your visual posters to other computers
If your collegues are only infographics consummers, as any Excel user they will be able to look at your innovative charts and dynamic diagrams (all made of cliparts, EMF/WMF shapes and freeforms)...

But these advanced graphics won't be data-linked anymore (unless they install BeGraphic also on their PC).
